The role of zinc oxide in rubber

Since zinc oxide and rubber molecules are positively charged during processing, they have the same properties and repel each other, making it difficult to disperse in rubber. When added with stearic acid, it forms during mixing. Zinc stearate is easy to disperse.

Zinc oxide is primarily used as an active agent (I. e., auxiliary accelerator) in rubber mixtures.
Because the zinc oxide added to the rubber reacts with the accelerator to form a zinc salt complex, the 2n2 particles with empty orbitals have strong polarization ability and can easily promote the cleavage of sulfur ring molecules, thereby promoting the vulcanization of rubber. Why use it with stearic acid? Since zinc oxide and rubber molecules are positively charged during processing, they have the same properties and repel each other, making it difficult to disperse in rubber. When added with stearic acid, it forms during mixing. Zinc stearate is easy to disperse.
Zinc oxide is also an excellent thermal and heat capacity agent in rubber.
The thermal conductivity of zinc oxide is 2.5 times that of carbon black and 5 times that of rubber; its heat capacity is twice that of carbon black. Why is the amount of zinc oxide used in the inner rubber (cushion rubber), patching rubber and cushion rubber used for retreading larger? This is because the inner rubber is located between the tread and the carcass, the filling hole is located in the carcass, and the cushion rubber is located between the liner and the inner layer of the carcass. When the tire is repeatedly compressed, stretched and bent during high-load, high-speed and continuous driving, heat will inevitably be generated. Zinc oxide in stock supply In order to reduce the heat accumulation in these parts, it is necessary to make the glue in these parts dissipate as soon as possible and have a large heat capacity. Therefore, the glue in these parts has a larger zinc oxide. Zinc oxide is also a reinforcing agent and a colorant.
The direct method is also known as the American method. It uses ore as raw material, through high temperature reduction and oxidation, directly obtains zinc oxide products, zinc oxide for glass, and zinc oxide for ceramic glaze.
Indirect zinc oxide, which uses high-purity zinc ingots as raw materials to obtain zinc oxide through high-temperature sublimation and oxidation. It is a method of producing zinc oxide and indirect method zinc oxide that has appeared in recent years.
